Louisville parents behind bars after newborn baby hospitalized with severe injuries, police say 

Two Louisville parents were jailed this week after police said their newborn baby was hospitalized with severe injuries, including broken bones and bruises.Brent Bishop, 30, and Amanda Yff, 26, were arrested on charges of criminal abuse after their baby was transported Monday to Norton Children’s Hospital, the Louisville Metro Police Department said.Investigators wrote in an arrest citation that the 9-day-old baby had a broken humerus, two broken radial bones, a broken right tibia, a broken right femur and a broken left femur.Medical examiners also found the baby had a bruise to the left side of the head.According to police, Yff said she fed the baby and the Bishop took the child with him in another room for a few hours. Bishop brought the baby back to Yff, who fed the child again before falling asleep.Yff said when she woke up, she couldn’t find her baby, according to police.Bishop and Yff looked around for the baby who was then found face down on the floor next to the bed. Yff spoke to detectives about the incident.According to police, a nurse said the injuries to the baby are consistent with “inflicted physical abuse.” The nurse found that the injuries were severe and showed “extreme indifference for human life.”Police executed a search warrant on the home of Bishop of Yff, finding numerous instances of drugs. According to the police report, the officers found a white powder substance that appeared to be cocaine, a crystallized substance that appeared to be meth, oxycodone pills, sleeping pills and marijuana.There were also instances of drug paraphernalia, officials said.Investigators believe the drugs were meant for sale.Bishop and Yff were jailed earlier this week and then appeared in court for arraignment.Additional details were not released about the case.
